In this foundational course, learners gain clarity about what dementia truly means and the universal truths that apply across all forms of brain change. We will examine the four leading neurodegenerative conditions that cause dementia, along with their characteristic symptoms and early indicators. The class concludes with an introduction to Teepa Snow’s Gems Model, offering a strengths‑based lens for understanding abilities, needs, and care approaches across the progression of dementia.
